Art Statement
I‘ve arrived at my artistic interest through my personal investigation of place and human interaction, grounded in my experiences growing up in a syncretistic culture in South America. Having a Latin American spirit, I am constantly looking for spaces to gather, people to exchange ideas and cooperate with. I am fascinated by unpredictability of new encounters and am drawn to create space for the unpredictable.
Through dialogue or interaction between two or more viewers of a shared world, form can be generated and defined. These dialogues frequently manifest themselves in distinctive forms depending on the people that are interacting in a specific moment. Objects that create a space can be used as an opportunity to promote these encounters rather then represent a thing or a definitive style. The physical outcome in my work becomes secondary to the process in which it occurs and what occurs through and around its physical presence. My work intends to explore those forms directly and indirectly, through physical interaction or technological devices.
